The Teen PEP leadership team is gearing up for its classroom presentations to provide peer education on healthy decision-making. The 12-member leadership team will be in Kelsi Krill's 9th grade physical education classes Wednesday and Thursday (March 4 and 5).
This year, the PEP group is focusing on internal/external pressure, academic cheating, vaping, sexual assault, and healthy/unhealthy relationships. The students took advantage of two recent opportunities to meet with Maara Fink, clinical professor of law at the University of Toledo and vice president of the Ottawa Hills Board of Education. Ms. Fink helped the PEP members delve into issues of sexual consent and the law as well as internet safety and vaping.
This year's Teen PEP leadership team members are Avery Dale (10), Sophie Heidenreich (10), Andrew Helgren (10), Zak Maaieh (11), Anjali McGrath (11), Evan Muse (11), Deepta Paramasamy (12), Autumn Richard (12), Hope Schaefer (11), Stephen Souder (10), Victor Tavtigian (11), and Abbie Westmeyer (11).
Special thanks to guidance counselor Jennifer Nagy for coordinating this student organization.
