Cheerleaders at OH game

This week marks the beginning of Homecoming festivities. Students will be celebrating with a series of themed days for spirit week, culminating with the football game and Village parade Friday and the dance on Saturday.

Congratulations to members of this year’s court: Sarah Boice, Anna Brown, Catherine Byrne, Amelia Frueh, and Priya Bhatt.

Next week's Spirit Themes (with upperclassmen listed on the left and underclassmen on the right) are: Monday - Greasers vs. Preps; Tuesday - 60s vs. 90s; Wednesday - Teachers vs. Students; Thursday - Surfers vs. Skiers; and Friday - Green vs. White. (On Wednesday, teachers are being encouraged to dress like students!)

On Friday, the energy level gets boosted during a morning assembly schedule (10:40-11:10 a.m.AM). The Band, Cheerleaders and Dance team along with the Queen Candidates and their dates will be part of the assembly. A second homeroom assembly follows from 12:55-1:25 p.m., during which the Homecoming-theme Video will be played and Sophomore class Officers will distribute Homecoming shirts and bids.

Also on Friday, the Village Life Parade leaves the Elementary School parking lot at precisely 5:30 p.m., travels along an established route, and arrives at Niedermeier Stadium at about 6 p.m. The football team play the Montpelier Locomotives from Montpelier Exempted Village Schools starting 7 p.m. Class floats and the Homecoming Court will make appearances during halftime. The Homecoming Dance take place at the high school Saturday from 7:30-10:30 p.m.  Students must arrive at the school between 7:30-8 p.m.

“Thank you to the sophomores who have worked hard to put together a great 2019 Homecoming,” said Liz Puskala, sophomore class advisor. Leading the charge are the sophomore officers: Will Berschback, Walker Kight, Drake Furey, Ashim Dhakal, Elise Denk, Reagan Clarke.

Also, a big thank you to this year’s dance chaperones: teacher Gerry Davis and his wife Robin.
