I look forward to another exciting school year, where my responsibilities include collaboration with regular education teachers and staff, serving on several committees, as well as working with students to help them reach their highest potential in reading, writing, and math.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, I attended The University of Toledo and received a B. Ed. in elementary education. I taught second grade in the Washington Local School District, teaching in the same building that my father, sisters, and I all attended.
I also taught preschool for three and four year old children, and returned to The University of Toledo and received my Master's of Special Education.
I joined the staff as an intervention specialist at Ottawa Hills Elementary School in the 1999-2000 school year. In addition to my degrees, I have received training in the multi-sensory approach to teaching reading. I helped to co-author a professional journal article in "Reading and Writing Quarterly" with Dr. Yvonne Goddard from The University of Michigan. In addition, I was the recipient of the Master Educator Award from The Lucas County Educational Service Center in 2005.
My husband, David, and I have three children. My interests include reading, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
