Kate Pixler, a six-year veteran of the Ottawa Hills Board of Education, announced her resignation tonight effective immediately. Ms. Pixler, a communications professional, recently accepted a new position at a Cleveland-based marketing and advertising company.
"This was a difficult decision to reach for me and my family," she said. "But due to my new job and the time in Cleveland that it requires, I felt that I was not going to be able devote the time and energy required to be an effective board member."
Ms. Pixler was appointed to an open position in August 2015 and then was elected by voters to a four-year term at the November 2017 election. Her current term expires Dec. 31, 2021, and she had no plans to run for another term.
The board’s remaining four members must (by law) take no action on the vacancy for at least 10 days. Information will be shared soon regarding a decision to appoint someone to fill the remainder of her term.
