AFS seeks host family for student from Israel

Posted On: Monday, May 10, 2021

AFS-USA is looking for a host family in Ottawa Hills to welcome a soon-to-be 16-year-old girl from Israel. Anan is a caring, sociable, and studious young woman from a small village. She has excellent grades and English skills. Anan is considered “one of a million” and is passionate about science and hopes to be a surgeon one day.

She likes playing the violin, engaging in math and speech/debate competitions, exploring science and robotics, and volunteering at her youth center library. Anan spends a lot of time volunteering, as she considers it to be "one of the most important values that help build a great society."

A Muslim student, she was selected to represent Israel as a winner of the prestigious YES scholarship, which is awarded to outstanding students. Anan has one sister and one brother. She likes writing stories and spending time with her parents and many friends. In the United States, she hopes to join a swim team or school band and volunteer in her community. She is very excited to meet her host family and spend time with them.

If you ask host families about the wonderful international exchange students that they have hosted through the years, they will tell you about the lasting memories and the warm friendships that developed with students from around the world.
