Congratulations to the girls basketball team on a successful “Hoops for the Cause” event. The team raised $3,433, including a generous $1,000 donation from Lambie’s Legacy.
In addition, team members also collected dozens of new pajamas, socks, slippers, blankets, and stuffed animals. They did so in honor of the program’s dear friend and Villager Anne French (OH ‘80), who was moved by the outpouring of support. Parents Jackie (Hylant) Berenzweig (’93) and Bubba Berenzweig created clever custom warm-up shirts and generously donated them to the team (and to many parents and students).
Thanks to the Pep Band for creating a lively atmosphere. Special thanks to parents Heather Westmeyer and Mrs. Berenzweig for their help! Seniors Abby Westmeyer and Abbie Dewhirst and Elly Diesen (11) presented a check to the Seagate Food Bank and learned more about the organization’s goal to distribute 500 care packages.
“We have no doubt that the funds will go a long way to help them meet this goal,” said parent Lisa Dewhirst, who helped to coordinate the event.
