The Dance Team made its debut during halftime at the boys’ basketball game Saturday (Feb. 6). They performed their new hip-hop routine. The season has been challenging for the team due to restrictions from COVID-19. However, they persevered and learned Sunday that they qualified for States with a grade of an A from both judges.
“Closed practices, a quiet fan section during basketball games, and virtual competitions have encouraged us to bring and create our own energy,” said senior Sophia Stone and team captain. “Choosing to focus only on hip-hop this year, we’ve embraced our relationship with one another as well as our relationship with dance. Training harder, practicing longer, we’ve chosen to optimize our circumstances.”
Other team members are juniors Sophie Heidenreich (co-captain), Sarah Keil, and Paxson Koury; sophomores Cassie Davis, Sydney Mack, and Gabrielle Suhy; and freshmen Sarah Stone and Ava Jesse.
Special thanks to coach Taylor Bush, Athletic Administrator Tammy Talmage, and parent volunteers. Wishing these dancing Bears all the best at States.
