The Ottawa Hills Board of Education today hired Adam Fineske as its new superintendent effective Aug. 1, 2019.
“I am extremely honored by the board’s selection and very excited to join one of the great school districts in Ohio,” said Dr. Fineske. He is currently the superintendent of Sylvania Schools in Sylvania, Ohio.
The five-member board made its decision at a special meeting Wednesday evening; the unanimous vote culminates a search that lasted more than two months and was conducted in partnership with Finding Leaders, a national executive search company.
“The board has done its due diligence and we firmly believe Dr. Fineske is the right person to lead our district going forward,” said Corey Hupp, school board president. “As the board was unanimous in our selection of Dr. Fineske, we have no doubt that he has the necessary aptitude and work ethic to take Ottawa Hills to the next level.”
The board and Dr. Fineske agreed to a three-year contract. He replaces current superintendent Dr. Kevin S. Miller, who is resigning to join the Buckeye Association of School Administrators as its director of government relations. Dr. Miller’s last day with the district will be July 31.
The search process included focus groups led by Finding Leaders with residents, parents, school-support groups, faculty, and staff. In the final stages, a 25-person stakeholder group attended an executive session of the board to ask questions of the two finalists.
